Weathering the Storm

As most of you experienced last Thursday, we had some strong storms to come through sending off tornado sirens throughout the day. Cousin Abbey was visiting while her mom was working. As the sirens started we headed to the hall bathroom, dog and all. We packed in a comforter and several pillows. Even the animals in the form of crackers were safe, that is, until they were eaten by one of tub dwellers.

I walked back and forth from the bathroom to the den to watch the weather report on TV. I happened to look outside and I kid you not, I saw a squirrel float by trying his best to tread water. I felt so sorry for him and would had loved nothing more than to save his little struggling body. I think he eventually found safe ground down the way.

As you can see, there was enough water for Noah's ark and definitely enough for a squirrel to drown. And after the rain finally stopped there was even enough for 2 boys to splash in the rubber boots that Meme and Pappaw gave them for Christmas.

The boys were enjoying what boys do best...getting dirty in puddles. They were covered in wet and mud. The fun ended when sweet, little CB fell in the water. As upset as the fall was, he was even more upset to have to leave this boy's dream of a playground.

“The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful.”~ E.E. Cummings
Until next time, HB

If pappaw had been there he would have had just as much fun and gotten just as muddy as the boys!!!!MS
